Located at the northeast intersection of 350 East and 750 North Streets, the Delta Cemetery is one of the three area cemeteries maintained by the Delta-Sutherland-Oasis Cemetery District. As a matter of clarification, it is often assumed that this cemetery is owned by Delta City, but it is not, it is owned by the districted noted herein. We receive many phone calls at the City offices about the cemetery, so we provide this general information for the benefit of our citizens.
Rules and regulations for the operation of the Delta-Sutherland-Oasis Cemetery District are not yet made available in electronic format, but you can acquire a paper set of them within the black mail box mounted upon the white maintenance building directly behind the cemetery directory at the Delta Cemetery. If you are interested in advanced planning and know that you would desired to be interned upon your death in the Delta Cemetery, the current cemetery sexton indicates that there are still several plots available in the currently developed sections of the cemetery. It is also noted that while one cannot currently purchase plots in the "newer" sections (east-side) of the cemetery at this time, they will become available in the near future. The rules of the newer section will only allow for flat stone memorials.
Burial plots are priced at $500.00 each. The cost for the opening and closing of a grave to accommodate a casket burial is $300.00, and the opening and closing for cremated remains is $150.00. The opening and closing of graves are mandatories done by an insured employee of the cemetery's ownership.
