Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.

Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.

Would you like to be a part of the CERT team? If so, please contact us. We have several programs available:

• Senior CERT - These classes are geared toward the senior citizens of the community that provide information relevant to them in a disaster. The class is mostly medical and hands-on.
• Finger Printing Kits - For all parents who would like to request a kit, please contact us. The kit includes the ID/DNA packages. You will need to know your child's weight and height and have the McGruff Identification form.
• Stranger Danger - This program is for elementary, middle school, and youth kids. The information in this program is taught on what your child should do if they are approached by a stranger when they are alone or with an adult. Also taught is what you should do in the event your child gets lost at a shopping mall or at a ball game, etc.
