Mayor's Message

Greetings visitors and residents! As mayor, and on behalf of the City Council, I would like to thank you for visiting the official website of Delta City, Utah.

To our visitors, we are very pleased you have taken time to explore our community through the Internet, hopefully followed by your actual trek to our locale! Upon your arrival here, you will discover that our City, neighboring the wide-open expanses of public-use land, make this central part of Utah an awesome vacation destination regardless of the length of your stay. We think that you will agree with the tagline on our City website, that the we are a place of "Exploration, Recreation, Open Spaces and Friendly People."

You ask how to actually get here? If southbound on Interstate 15 exit at Nephi, and if northbound take exit 174 through Holden. You can also come by several other intersecting state highways or even from neighboring Nevada by traveling eastward approximately ninety miles. For those of you who seek technical information, we are at 4,639’ feet above sea level, with global positioning satellite (GPS) coordinates of 39.3531° N and 112.5736° W, geographically located in the northeastern region of Millard County in west central Utah. As of the 2010 U.S. Census, there were 3,436 people estimated to be living in the approximately 3.5 miles area of land mass that makes up Delta City proper.

We are fortunate to have a relatively diverse mix of businesses and merchants that are poised to meet nearly every need. Be prepared to be greeted with a smile and offered a hand-shake at every turn. You will find most commodities and services without the hassle associated with major metropolitan areas. Examples being full-service automobile dealerships, gas, diesel and propane stations, multiple grocery and convenience stores, motels, and restaurants. Also available are farm and home supplies, specialty products, churches of various denominations, auto parts, clothing, hardware and general retail stores. The City also boasts a top notch County-owned care and rehabilitation center, an IHC hospital and many caring physicians. Our community also has an RV park on Delta’s west side. The City also has an RV sewage dump station provided as a courtesy to those needing such facilities which is located on Manzanita Ave near the south-end of the Millard County Fairgrounds property.

There are many activities to enjoy, for example, fishing, swimming, boating or water-skiing at nearby Gunnison Bend Reservoir, or playing golf on a challenging County-owned 18-hole course 3 miles north on Highway 6, or practice your shooting skills at our Gun Range approximately one mile further north. You may want to take in a movie, bowl, or challenge your skills at the local skate park. Other fun adventures include participating in regional sporting activities, or relaxing in the city park while dangling your feet in the coolness of the waterfall. Be sure to visit the Great Basin Museum, the Topaz Museum and the Delta Community Center (where tourism information is available), all located on Delta’s Main Street downtown. Delta is also your gateway to the Great Basin National Park in Nevada, and is accessible traveling west along Highway 6/50.

To our residents, please know that considerable time and effort was put forth in planning the layout and design of these web pages. Our goal was to have simple menu headings and that the drop-down selections under each category would provide an intuitive ease of navigation for your electronic interaction with us. In compliance with transparency laws, you are provided our contact information and are encouraged to reach out to us in order to aid you in your business with the City. As well, you will always find an agenda posted in advance of official City meetings; and as soon as reasonably possible afterwards, draft minutes shall be produced and posted, while still subject to correction and changes before final approval and permanent retention. One will also find information about key city departments and their services, and detailed information about City amenities and facilities for your use and enjoyment. Finally, this site will also provide you information applicable to you as an area resident, links to your county commission, state and federal legislators, local business directory, commonly sought after agencies and phone numbers and the like.

Have a wonderful day,

Mayor John W. Niles
